When transitioning to a vegan lifestyle, the most common food craving we hear individuals struggle to let go of is dairy cheese. Although years ago there was a definite lack of dairy-free cheeses available, making it all the more difficult for individuals to ditch dairy entirely, today’s supermarket options leave us spoilt for choice. From cheddar to camembert, or halloumi to feta, we are confident in the fact we now have incredible, dairy-free alternatives that equally satisfy these cravings compared to its non-vegan counterparts.

To help us find the best vegan cheeses out there, our friends at Let’s Go Vegan have asked the community what their favourite brands are and kindly shared the results with us. The options we have available extend beyond the top nine listed below, so we encourage you to go and try any vegan cheese & let us know your favourites in the comment section!

For now, we highly recommend taking a look at the winners as follows:

Here’s what they had to say about their product:

Like most people, we love animals. When you think about it, cows are much like dogs. They enjoy playing, have closely bonded families, and adore cuddles. That’s something to consider when considering dairy. We make cheese from plants because it’s better for everyone, including the environment. Making realistic, delicious cheese is really important to us, because we should all have the opportunity to make positive change without compromising on great taste!

With Hello Friend, everyone can come to the table and feel good about what they’re eating.

Cheese that’s ethical, honest, and delicious. That’s a win for us all.

01 | The Vegan Dairy

Here’s what they had to say about their products:

Coming from a cheese-making background gave us insight into traditional cheese-making methods that could be applied to vegan versions, and also enabled us to play with flavours with a better understanding of how our products should taste if they were to rival dairy. And though I think we have done a pretty good job so far, we are always experimenting and working on new things and ideas.

And there you have it!

Thank you to Let’s Go Vegan for sharing these incredible vegan cheese brands with us. If you like the brands we have listed, let us know in the comments below or tell us your favourite dairy-free cheese options instead!
